Kuthiyottam,' has its custom and tradition rooted in human sacrifice (‘Narabali'), . It involves adoption of a boy child by the devotee who gives him as ‘vazhipadu' (offering) to the deity at Chettikulangara on Bharani in the Malayalam month of Kumbhom.
